Lana McArdle – Artist
Lana McArdle is a New Zealand born artist, currently based in Palmerston North and is one of New Zealand’s most accomplished Female landscape painters.
With a natural talent for capturing realism through colour and reflection, her work includes conventional as well as unconventional subjects, demonstrating her unique talents. After specialising in commissioned fine art portraits (ranging from people and equine art to estate homes) she has broadened her appeal with a more contemporary look to her portfolio.
Her predominant medium is oil, however other works have included gouache and acrylics. Lana is able to capture the depth of colour and light that escapes many images upon translation to the canvas. Lana has also contracted some images from her recent collections to PGM ArtWorlD in Germany, and received first place in the 2006 Wheeler Campbell Emerging Art Awards.
With the desire to bring life and dimension to all subjects she paints, and to carefully include this detail in her work, her natural skill in photography, (and digital imaging), allows her the time and flexibility to create both commissioned and general portfolio pieces.
Lana uses fine Belgian and Italian linen canvases on kiln dried Gallery wooden frames, Schmincke and Sennelier oils and LeFranc & Bourgeois retouching varnish.
All this combined ensures Lana's art pieces are of the highest quality.
